Expiry Date Calculator
Work out the exact expiry / use-by date from a manufacturing date and shelf life — and see how many days are left. Works for medicines, food, cosmetics, and chemicals.
Know the expiry without trusting the label
Counterfeiters relabel expired stock with fresh dates. A FirstScanIt scan returns the real batch and expiry recorded by the manufacturer at production — so a tampered date is exposed instantly.

An expiry date is simply the manufacturing date plus the product's shelf life. Enter the MFG date and the shelf life (in months or years) and this tool returns the precise expiry date plus how many days remain from today.
Why Medicine Expiry Falls on Month-End
Pharmaceutical expiry dates are usually printed as month and year only (e.g. "EXP 12/2027"), and the product is considered usable through the last day of that month. Keep the "pharma rule" option ticked for medicines; untick it for food or cosmetics that carry an exact day.
Use-By vs. Best-Before
Use-by / expiry is a safety limit — do not consume the product afterwards. Best-before is a quality date: the product may be safe but past peak quality. Medicines and perishable foods carry use-by dates; shelf-stable foods usually carry best-before dates.
For Manufacturers
Setting shelf life isn't guesswork — it's established through stability studies. Estimate it from accelerated data with our Shelf Life Calculator (ICH Q1E) and confirm the right storage condition with the ICH Stability Zone Calculator.
